In the latest Express Entry draws that recently took place on May 27 and 28, 3,900 lucky newcomers were given a chance to apply for permanent residence in Canada. Since the COVID-19 restrictions were implemented, we have seen a trend in the way that visa applications are currently being processed. Those who have applied through an Express Entry linked Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) as well as those who have applied through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), which are for those who already have Canadian work experience, are being processed more frequently than others. This is due to the backlog caused by COVID-19 restrictions, which has caused some delay in the processing times of applications. With a target of inviting 340,000 newcomers in 2020 and 1 million by 2022, it seems that the Canadian government is moving full steam ahead with visa applications, which is great news for those who have been concerned about whether or not they can still immigrate to Canada. So let's take a look at some of the results from the past two Express Entry Draws.

Express Entry Draw #150

The first draw held on May 27, 2020, invited 385 Express Entry candidates who had expressed interest in a particular province or territory and had received a provincial nomination (PN). Those with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 757 or higher received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. PN are greatly sought after because it is worth 600 points, candidates only needed an extra 157 CRS points to qualify.

Express Entry Draw #151

The second draw held on May 28, 2020, invited 3,515 applicants with previous Canadian work experience to apply for permanent residence status. Those who applied through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and had a CRS score of just 440 or higher received the chance to apply for Canadian permanent residence. CEC CRS scores are continuing to drop with each draw, which means that if you have your heart set on immigrating to Canada, now is the time to apply! speeding train with blurred lights | immigrate to Canada in 2020 The Express Entry system is probably one of the quickest and most efficient ways to apply for Canadian permanent residence and its no secret why it is also the most popular route to take. Did you know that you can immigrate to Canada in under a year through Express Entry, with visa processing times of as little as 6 to 8 months? How Do I Qualify for Express Entry?

To apply through the Express Entry system you will need an Express Entry profile, This profile will contain information about your age, language skills, education, ability to settle in Canada, and work experience if you have any. You will receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and will be ranked against other applicants in your draw pool. If you score higher than the cut-off CRS score, you will receive an ITA to apply for Canadian permanent residency. If your profile is not chosen, you will continue to have a chance every two weeks, when Express Entry draws are held for up to 1 year. What’s more, applying through an Express Entry-linked PNP, gives provinces or territories the chance to select your profile directly from the draw pool if you have expressed interest through your online profile or if you have a skill set that is needed. 9 out of the 11 provinces and territories with PNP’s (Provincial Nominee Programs) have “enhanced streams” linked to the Express Entry system, and having a PN is one of the easiest ways to be chosen to receive an ITA. It is important to note however that most PNP streams and categories require that you have a job offer in that province or territory in order to qualify.
