Over the past few years, Canada has started introducing new immigration pilot programs to help drive newcomers to some of the lesser-known communities in Canada that are in need of skilled and unskilled workers. This is to help fill current labour gaps and simultaneously help boost the local economy. Certain pilots are job specific and are designed to help address the needs of two of Canada’s key economic sectors, predominantly international workers in agricultural and care provider occupations. Certain pilots are region specific, specifically the four Canadian Atlantic provinces as well as some rural and northern provincial communities in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
Agri-food Immigration Pilot
The Agri-food Immigration Pilot is an occupation and employer-specific initiative that was created to help bring skilled farm workers as well as meat manufacturing and animal production workers to Canada. Eligible occupations include supervisors, industrial butchers as well as food and farm labourers. As you will be able to apply for permanent residency through the Agri-food Immigration Pilot, seasonal jobs are not eligible for this program. But if you have a full time job offer of at least 1 year as well as meet the other program requirements, this could be your pathway to Canada.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot
The Atlantic Immigration Pilot is a region-specific pilot designed to help entice foreign skilled and semi-skilled workers to immigrate to one of Canada’s four Atlantic Provinces: New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. These maritime regions offer coastal living at it’s best with beautiful weather, plenty of attractive job opportunities and is the perfect place to raise a family as well as enjoy the charm of small town living without compromising on the comforts of urban city centres.

Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot
The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is a community-driven immigration program offering permanent residency for international workers of all levels. There are currently 11 participating cities and towns, specifically in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan. In demand occupations in these regions include farm workers, truck drivers, registered nurses, carpenters, mechanics, construction workers among others. If you’re looking to move to Canada for great opportunities and a slower pace of life, the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot may be the right option for you.

Childcare Provider and Home Support Worker Pilot
