British Columbia Immigration Invites 42 Tech Workers

British Columbia is steadily becoming Canada’s tech hub and, for this reason, the province is always on the lookout for skilled IT workers. To do this, the province created the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program Tech Pilot (BC PNP Tech Pilot), which expedites visa processing for skilled foreign workers in the technology sector who want to immigrate to Canada. This pilot program has been immensely popular in 2019 and has thus been extended well into 2020.
The first BC PNP Tech Pilot draw was held on the 2nd of July and issued a total of 42 invitations to apply for a provincial nominee through four of the province’s PNP streams. The minimum required score for the draw was 90 for every stream.

How Does the BC PNP Tech Pilot Program Work?
Created due to the need for tech workers in British Columbia, the pilot program processes visa applications much faster than regular applications. To qualify, you will have to first meet the requirements of one of the traditional PNP streams, namely the Skilled Workers, Health Care Professionals, International Graduates, International Post-Graduates, and Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Workers Stream.
Another requirement of the pilot program is that you must have work experience in one of the 29 technology sector occupations identified by British Columbia immigration. These occupations range from telecommunication carriers managers to graphic designers and illustrators. For a full list of occupations see the list below.

Latest British Columbia Immigration BC PNP Tech Pilot Draws
The last two draws both required applicants to have a minimum score of 90 on the British Columbia immigration assessment grid. The 2nd of July draw issued 42 invitations to apply whereas the draw that took place on the 25th of June issued 57. Your profile score is calculated according to multiple factors ultimately giving you a score out of a possible 200.
