The 132nd Express Entry Draw for 2019 took place on December 11th. The Canadian Government issued 3,200 candidates invitations to apply (ITA) for permanent residency in Canada. This puts the total number of  ITA issued for the year at 82,100 so far!  The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score for the draw was 472 – a one-point increase since the previous draw on November 27. The tie-breaking rule was applied in the latest Express Entry draw. That means not all candidates with 472 points will receive an ITA, instead, candidates who applied before December 6, 2019, at 03:03:49 UTC will be prioritized.  As another victorious year for Canadian immigration nears its end, we are happy to see that Canada is going full steam ahead with its historic three-year plan to welcome more than 1 million new immigrants between 2019 and 2021.

The Express Entry System

Woman with Canadian fla Canada’s Express Entry System was introduced in 2016 to streamline and speed up the processing time for immigration applications in just 6 months! More than 50% of Canadian permanent residents were able to make  Canada their permanent home thanks to Express Entry. The system manages online profiles for permanent residence from three skilled economic programs: - Federal Skilled Worker Program - Federal Trades Worker Program  - Canadian Experience Class Every two weeks, the Canadian Government sends candidates with the highest eligibility scores also known as CRS scores invitations to apply for permanent residency. If you are not successful, your profile will remain in the draw pool. This means that you won’t have to reapply for every draw. However, you can improve on your CRS points to increase your score in between draws.  CRS Criteria Awards Points For:
  • Age
  • CLB Language proficiency (English and French)
  • Level of Education (In and outside Canada)
  • Work Experience (In and outside Canada)
  • Arranged Employment (Not compulsory)
  • Provincial Nomination achieved
  • Sibling in Canada
  • Your spouse’s profile (if married)

When is the Next Express Entry Draw?

The final Express Entry draw for 2019 may not take place two Wednesdays from the December 11 draw as expected, since this will be December 25, a federal holiday in Canada. For this reason, candidates should be aware that the next draw may occur outside of the usual bi-weekly schedule.
